Today we planted some garlic, cabbages, broccoli, cauli, leeks and beans. Can't wait to see them being harvested.

What else could we plant at the moment?

First Skype Session with Singapore

Some of our EnviroHeroes Skyped our sister school in Singapore for the first time last week.

We loved talking about what our school was like compared to theirs. Our children were really surprised at the size of their school 1000 children. They couldn't believe that they had 5 story classrooms. We loved hearing about the things their Enviro Group are doing. We cant wait to do a project together. Watch this space.

Mahoe Planting with Lincoln Kidsfirst Kindergarten

Today a small group of children from our EnviroHeroes meet the children from Lincoln Kidsfirst Kindergarten to complete some planting at the reserve. The day was organised and supported by Matt (Our EnviroSchools Co-ordinator, Brooke from Te Ara Kakariki and Mike Bowie from Lincoln University. It looks and sounds like Mike and his bugs were once again a huge hit. We were honoured to be invited to support and help the little people in this project. The aim is to plant natives in pockets to create a native corridor for birds to travel along. Feeding along the way. It was interesting to get a tweet today saying that a Tui was seen today of all days at Mahoe Reserve. This shows that this type of native planting is working. It is all about creating a community that values biodiversity. Well done Lincoln Kidsfirst Kindergarten and thanks for letting us help and teach your children.
