Yarrs Flat Trip

Last Thursday we had a fabulous afternoon at Yarrs Flat. This area of DOC land has been assigned to Lincoln Primary School to help restore over the next 10 years. This is a massive project funded by Fonterra supported by DOC and Te Ara Kakariki. Our first planting day will be in early September this year. Last week however was about connecting with the land and coming up with some ideas and visions about what we could do to help improve the bio-diversity and the environment so that it becomes a great place to visit, picnic and look at bird and wildlife.

Story of the Awa

Thanks Matt for an interactive informative and fun session on 'the story of the awa'. It was great looking at what happens to the beautiful, crystal clear water that starts at the river source as it travels down the awa and gets polluted or contaminated as it goes.

It definitely made us think.

Bird survey week

Today our school took part in the annual 'bird survey week'. We had a great time with Matt surveying what bird species are spending time at Lincoln Primary School. We saw some interesting birds and are looking forward to comparing this years results with last years.
