Final stop

Today for our last spot we went to Broadfields School. We saw how they display their vision map. They break it into tasks that they are 'thinking' about, ones that they are 'doing' and ones that they are 'tending' to.
We saw how they planted different plants to enhance the area beside the water race and what process they needed to go through to able to plant them.

Stop 2 - Springston

At Springston we were very impressed by the art work in and around the gardens. Each piece represents a different Maori god. They definitely enhance the space and it is great that they reflect the gods and myths of our past.

Stars of the week

Well done this week to Liam and Lexie. They have been showing the power of 'thinking' during the day.

Keep up the good work.

First stop Ladbrooks

Today the EnviroHeroes went on a tour of 3 enviro schools schools. The first school we visited was Ladbrooks. We hade a delicious morning tea.

Some tips from Ladbrooks school. They have environmental graffiti around the school to remind all their community that our role is to look after the land we live on.

This is the bug hotel that Ladbrooks made.

Exciting news

Great news...

Lincoln Primary has been given a Te Reo name from our local iwi. We can now call ourselves Te Kura o Tauhinu instead of Lincoln Primary School. Tauhinu is a bush or scrub that was prolific around this area years before we were here.

We are very honoured and will use this name with pride.

Bug garden tidy up

Progress was made this week in trying up the bug garden. We had laid some carpet over the weeds to reduce our workload. The children have now put some of Mrs Robertson's mulch over the carpet. We did lots of watering. It is starting to look so much better. Still more to be done but good progress made.

First week

It was great to get out and working last week with the eager children in the EnviroHeroes group. 1/2 the group sanded the letters for our 'welcome to our garden' sign while the other children went and planted some swan plants ready for next butterfly season.
