A special day
Yesterday we planted some vegetables and flowers in our new garden beds. It was a great way to spend a sunny lunchtime.
With thanks to the PTA we look forward to many more lunchtimes getting our hands dirty.

Scarecrow Saturday
Thanks to Gwen this year we entered a Scarecrow into the Scarecrow Saturday at the Lincoln Farmers Market.
We won first prize in the Schools group. I think this will be an annual event for our EnviroHeroes.
Thanks to all of our fabulous community who came to vote for us (once or 5 times).

Living Waters Project
On Thursday 23 October Lincoln Primary School in conjunction with Fonterra, the Department of Conservation, Te Ara Kakariki and EnviroSchools officially launched the 'Living Waters' project.
The project is a 20 million dollar project that aims to:
1) Improve biodiversity of local waterways
2) Build community relationships
We are one of 10 schools in New Zealand who have been asked to be part of this exciting project. We have been gifted a piece of land at Yarrs Flat to look after, restore and monitor for the next 10 years. This means that our current Year 1 children will visit and contribute to restore this important piece of the L2 for the next 8 years. They will see such a difference over this period in the biodiversity of the area.
This is the link if you would like to find out more information.

Liffey Clean Up
What a fabulous time the EnviroHeroes had at the annual Liffey Clean Up. This is organised by Sue Jarvis as part of Keep NZ Beautiful Week. This is a collaborative event with the high school and kindergarten taking part.
The children spent time cleaning up rubbish from around the Liffey, they collected samples of the water and used the samples to gauge the quality of the water in the Liffey.
At the end they were all treated to a yummy sausage sizzle by the very generous Lincoln New World.
